KD stands for Kiln Dried — lumber that has been dried in a controlled kiln to a specific moisture content optimized for interior and enclosed applications. Where our structural timbers are graded for outdoor and structural use, KD Fir is specifically designed for interior framing, stud walls, and applications where the lumber will be enclosed inside a finished structure.

The controlled drying process makes KD the preferred choice for interior walls, floor systems, and any application where the lumber will be surrounded by drywall, insulation, or flooring. It's the standard spec for residential and commercial framing contractors across Alberta.

Western Red Cedar is one of the most popular outdoor lumber species in Canada for good reason. It's naturally resistant to rot and insects without any chemical treatment, lightweight and easy to work with, and takes stain and finish beautifully. The warm reddish tone weathers gracefully to a silver-grey if left untreated.

All of our cedar comes straight from our own family mill in Chilliwack, BC — the heart of cedar country — a mill that's been sawing and in business for over 35 years. From fence rails and deck boards to full 6x6 timbers, our lineup covers fencing, siding, trim, garden structures, and heavy post-and-beam work — all at true mill-direct pricing, so you're paying significantly less than retail for the same quality material.

Yellow Cedar — also known as Cypress or Alaska Cedar — is a premium species that outperforms Western Red Cedar in almost every structural category. It's harder, denser, and more dimensionally stable, which means it holds fasteners better, resists checking and splitting, and handles Alberta's freeze-thaw cycles without the movement you'd see in softer species.

Yellow Cedar has the same natural rot and insect resistance as Red Cedar but with significantly more strength. For pergola posts, fence posts, gate columns, raised garden beds, and any exposed structural application, Yellow Cedar is the right call. It machines cleanly, accepts stain beautifully, and looks exceptional left raw with a light oil finish.

Our Maple timber is sourced direct from our mill in Chilliwack, BC and is one of the harder, denser species we carry. Maple is known for its tight, consistent grain, excellent strength, and beautiful appearance — it's a wood that looks as good as it performs. The pale cream to light tan colour takes stain exceptionally well and can be finished to a near-furniture-grade surface.

In 4x6 and 6x6 dimensions, Maple is ideal for feature pergola beams, decorative columns, heavy-duty workbench tops, and any application where you want the material to stand out visually. It's harder than both Fir and Cedar, holds fasteners extremely well, and resists surface denting and wear. Available in 8' and 10' lengths while stock lasts.
